Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to Privacy

PitchZone ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard the information you provide when using our pitching analytics platform. By using PitchZone, you agree to the practices described below.

Information We Collect

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we receive your name and email address through our authentication provider. We also store your account role and any profile details you choose to provide. If you enable biometric sign-in on a supported device, the biometric check is performed by your device's operating system — we never receive or store your fingerprint or face data.
  • Pitching Data: Our core service stores the pitch sessions, statistics, pitcher profiles, season profiles, and team data that you create. This includes pitch types, locations, velocities, counts, results, and related analytics.
  • Guest Trial Data (Stored on Your Device): You may use PitchZone for a limited trial period without creating an account. During a guest trial, the sessions, pitchers, and video analyses you create are stored locally on your device — in your browser's storage, or in the secure keychain and on-device storage of our mobile app — and are not transmitted to our servers. If you later create an account, you will be given the option to transfer that local data into your account, at which point it becomes account data governed by the rest of this policy. If you do not create an account, the data remains on your device and is removed when the trial ends or when you clear your device storage.
  • Video & Biomechanics Data: If you use our video analysis features, we store the pitching videos you upload, still frames extracted from those videos, and the resulting measurements. Skeletal pose estimation (joint positions and joint angles) is performed on your device using an on-device model; the resulting numeric measurements, along with your video and frames, are saved to your account so analyses can be revisited and compared. Videos may contain images of identifiable individuals, including minors — please upload only footage you have the right and any necessary consent to record and share.
  • Usage Data: We may collect anonymized information about how you interact with the app to improve performance and user experience. This does not include personally identifiable pitch data.
  • Device Information: When you access PitchZone, we may receive technical data such as your browser type, device type, and operating system for compatibility and support purposes.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain our pitching analytics platform
  • To save and display your pitch sessions, statistics, charts, and video analyses
  • To generate AI coaching insights, mechanical breakdowns, and pitch-tendency analysis from the data you submit
  • To enable the sharing features you choose to activate (public profiles, shared sessions, folders shared with other coaches)
  • To communicate with you about your account, updates, session summaries, and support requests
  • To analyze aggregate usage patterns and improve the app

AI-Generated Analysis

Several PitchZone features — including written mechanical breakdowns, session insights, and pitch-tendency analysis — are produced using third-party artificial intelligence providers. When you request one of these features, the relevant pitching data, measurements, and (for video analysis) selected video frames are transmitted to that provider solely to generate your result.

We do not permit these providers to use your content to train their models, and the analysis is returned to your account rather than shared with other users. AI-generated coaching output is informational only and is not medical, diagnostic, or professional training advice.

Sharing With Other Coaches

PitchZone lets you share a pitcher folder with another coach by email address. When you create a share, that coach can view the sessions, statistics, and video analyses in that folder, and — if you grant contribute access — can chart new sessions for that pitcher. The recipient's email address is stored so we can grant them access. You control these shares and may revoke any of them at any time, which immediately ends the recipient's access.

Social Media Sharing

PitchZone can generate a shareable story-card image and a public link for a completed session or game. When you use a share action, the image and link are handed to your device's own share sheet — you choose the destination (Instagram, Facebook, messages, email, or any other app) and you initiate the post. We do not post on your behalf and we hold no connection to your social media accounts.

Once you post to a third-party platform, that content is governed by the destination platform's own terms of service and privacy policy, not by ours. We cannot control, retrieve, or delete content after it has been posted elsewhere.

Shared images and links may include a pitcher's name, session date, and performance statistics. If the pitcher is a youth athlete, obtaining any consent required to publish their name and performance data is your responsibility. Public share links are unlisted but not password protected — anyone who has the link can view the report. You can stop sharing a session at any time by turning off its public sharing setting, which immediately disables the link.

Device Permissions

Our mobile app may request access to your camera and photo library (to record or select pitching video), Bluetooth (to connect supported radar devices), and biometric authentication (to unlock the app). Each permission is requested only when you use the corresponding feature, is handled by your device's operating system, and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.

Third-Party Services

We also rely on service providers for hosting, data storage, email delivery, spam protection on our contact form, and the AI processing described above. These providers may process your data only as needed to deliver those services on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations.

Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data only in the following circumstances:

  • When you explicitly choose to make a session or profile public, or share a folder with a specific coach
  • With service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, email delivery, AI analysis) and are bound by confidentiality obligations
  • If required by law or to protect our legal rights

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication protocols, and access controls. While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your account information, pitching data, and video analyses for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account or specific items (sessions, folders, videos), they are removed from our systems, subject to short-lived backup cycles. Guest trial data stored on your device is deleted when the trial data is cleared, when you delete the app or clear browser storage, or after it has been transferred into an account you create. You may also request deletion of your data by contacting us.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your pitching data at any time
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing

To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information below.

Children's Privacy

PitchZone is intended for use by coaches, parents, and adult players, and accounts are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Coaches and parents may chart youth pitchers and upload video of them; when you do so, you are responsible for having the authority and any consent required to record that athlete and to store their performance data in PitchZone. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or that their information has been submitted without proper consent, please contact us so we can promptly remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our website or sending an email to the address associated with your account. Continued use of PitchZone after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
